Our most senior campers are our veterans here at Awosting. They know camp and love camp. The focus for this age group is balancing the development of leaders, additional flexibility in the schedule and encouraging boys to find their passion.
Senior privileges are earned at this age, with later bed times and increased time at Senior Socials with the girls at Camp Chinqueka. Senior Trips to Lake George and Cape Cod are available for our campers aged 14 and older, as they camp outside, learn to work as a team, and try exciting new experiences. Our oldest campers also have access to the Senior Lounge and Hammock Village, where they can spend some of their free time, carefully supervised by staff but all the while gaining independence and earning new freedoms.
Our oldest campers have many opportunities to become leaders at camp, whether as Leaders in Training at their favorite activity, becoming leaders of their team, having a leadership role at mealtimes or participating in decades-long traditions, all the while setting good examples as role models to the youngest campers.
Activities for the boys in this age group are often focused on mastery of skills or advanced challenges. This age group also is instrumental in defining and carrying on the Awosting traditions for generations to come. We look to our most senior campers and hope that many will continue their Awosting experience and apply to be in our Leadership Development program as a CIT, CA or Jr. Counselor before joining the staff, when eligible.
